This tasty and vibrant acai smoothie bowl is a delicious vegan breakfast. It only takes a minute or so to whiz the freeze dried acai berry powder with a few simple ingredients. Berries, banana and oats bring extra goodness and make this smoothie bowl filling and delicious.

Are you a fan of smoothie bowls? I love how making a smoothie a bit thicker, pouring it into a bowl and adding toppings seems to make it more of a ‘meal’.
So, when Breville got in touch to ask me to take part in their Smoothie Bowl Challenge and create an acai bowl recipe for you, I leaped at the the chance. I enjoy making my Beet, Cranberry Ginger Smoothie as well as a Avocado Hazelnut Coffee Smoothie. It always makes me feel great all day when I start it with a smoothie.
I’ve had a big ol’ jar of freeze dried acai powder in my pantry for a while, and I’ve loved adding it to smoothies and even in porridge. It’s got a tangy berry flavour and considered to have an abundance of minerals, nutrients and antioxidants.
Acai Smoothie Bowl
This tasty vegan breakfast tastes almost like dessert. The thick bowl of pretty pink smoothie is healthy, gently sweet and full of tangy berry flavour with a hint of vanilla.
I’ve added oats to the smoothie to make it thicker and more suitable for eating in a bowl with a spoon. That also makes it filling so this smoothie bowl should set you up for the day and keep you full until lunchtime.
What I love about smoothie bowls is that you can add loads of tasty toppings.
Try this bowl with coconut flakes, seeds and frozen berries, as I have.
Or, you could try it with chopped nuts, cacao nibs, granola, sliced banana or even a spoonful of nut butter. The options are pretty endless.

Ingredients for Acai Smoothie Bowl
Freeze-dried acai berry powder
Plant milk (I used cashew milk, but any will work well)
You will also need a blender (*I used a Breville Blend Active)
- How do I make an acai smoothie bowl? Simply add all the ingredients and blend! Then pour into a bowl and add any desired toppings.
- Feel free to make substitutions to this smoothie bowl recipe. You can add fresh berries, different milk or frozen bananas.
- How long will this smoothie bowl last? Best when enjoyed immediately, but will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Use gluten free oats to make this a gluten free recipe.
- This recipe is vegan.
Breville Blend Active
I made this recipe in my Breville Blend Active Pro Food Prep Blender Set as part of the Breville Smoothie Bowl Challenge. It’s compact design has a tiny footprint, so it won’t hog precious counter space, but is still a powerful machine and can even crush ice. I found that it whizzed up this smoothie bowl in no time.
It comes with the food processor blending jug (as seen above), but also has two on-the-go drinking bottles. I like that because it means you can make a big smoothie and take one for breakfast on the run and one in your bag for lunch or a snack. Acai Smoothie Bowl
For the acai bowl
- ½ cup (125ml) dairy free milk I used oat but others work well
- 1 handful frozen berries
- 1/2 a banana
- 3 tbsp oats
- 2 tsp of acai powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- Frozen or fresh berries
- Place all the ingredients for the acai bowl into the blender and whiz until smooth.
- Spoon into serving bowls and add desired toppings.
