There are loads of reasons why I’m looking forward to Camp Bestival 2017 – from the amazing lineup to the kid-friendly fun!
Last year was my first year at Camp Bestival. I went to festivals back in my pre-kids days, but with the little ones in tow? I’ll admit that I was worried. However, Camp Bestival is absolutely perfect for a family festival. Kids of all ages are completely catered for – from food and crafts, to play spaces and entertainment.
This year, we’re going back, and we all can’t wait. We’ve told so many people about the fantastic time we had, that this time we have a big group coming along. With kids from 1 year – 10, we know everyone will have a wonderful time.
Camp Bestival is a family friendly festival, run by DJ Rob da Bank. It’s held on the Dorset coast at the end of July. We look forward to it every year!
And here’s why…
The lineup for Camp Bestival 2017
This year, as ever, the lineup looks great and there really is something for everyone. I’m sure the headliners Madness will get parents and kids up dancing, as will Mark Ronson. My kids loved Dick and Dom and Mr Tumble, as well as the other kids shows. Plus, we can all bust a move under the world’s largest disco ball.
The food at Camp Bestival 2017!
I do love festival food. The rows of choices just seem to get better and better. As a veggie, I was spoilt for choice at Camp Bestival last year. There was also a lot that appealed to my kids, though we often cooked simple food at the tent for them. It was only a ten minute walk to the tent, so we went back each afternoon so the kids could chill and eat. They were happy with beans or pasta, so they had that supplemented by ice creams in the festival!
My husband and I loved sampling festival food. There was everything from cakes in the WI tent, to the Feast Collective – an amazing array of artisan food producers. There was pizza, paella, salads and of course lots of drinks.
It’s not a festival without a bit of bizarre, amiright?
We saw some amazing comedy performances in the Caravanserai, caught a wedding in an inflatable church and jumped around the world’s largest bouncy castle. Camp Bestival 2017 promises all of that – and more!
I’m looking forward to dancing, cider in hand, under the world’s largest disco ball as my kids rock out beside me.
Family Friendly Festival
Camp Bestival is certainly family-friendly.
They have completely considered the things that make you worried about taking kids along. CB feels absolutely safe. It’s filled with parents and their offspring. The parents might be having a few drinks, but we all have little ones to look after, so although it’s definitely merry, it’s not out of control.
Your child have a meltdown in the middle of a field – that’s cool. We’ve all been there. Nobody cares.
Little Timmy has a meltdown over a second smoothie? Don’t worry, someone will come along dressed as a creature from outer space and distract him.
