Loads of great acts have been announced for Nozstock The Hidden Valley 2017, from Seasick Steve and the Happy Mondays to the Sugarhill Gang and Hayseed Dixie!
Nozstock runs from 21-23 July 2017 near Bromyard, Herefordshire, in the West Midlands.
Father and daughter duo Noz and Ella, plus a huge extended family who work across the entire festival, curate Nozstock The Hidden Valley. This year the festival celebrates its 19th festival and promises an enchanting adventure nestled in gorgeous rolling hills. It’s a family-friendly festival that boats a host of awards including the A Greener Festival Award and Outstanding Attitude Award for access efforts.
The festival has announced its second wave of acts that I’m excited to share with you. They’ve also announced brand new stage (making 11!), The Elephant’s Grave, and the new area: Bluejay’s Jazz Lounge.
Nozstock 2017 Lineup
New artists have been added to the lineup, including The Sugarhill Gang, Hayseed Dixie, Levelz, Ferocious Dog, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, The Baghdaddies, Le Galaxie, Freestylers and Benny Page, who join the already announced Seasick Steve, Happy Mondays, General Levy, Ocean Wisdom, Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Beans on Toast, Rodney P & Skitz, The Correspondents, Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, Delta Heavy and many more. Excited? Me too!
I dare anyone not to sing along to the Sugarhill Gang: “I said a hip-hop, hippie-to-the-hippie, the hip, hip-a-hop, and you don’t stop, a-rock-it-out, bubba to the bang-bang-boogie, boobie to the boogie, to the rhythm of the boogie-the-beat.”
We’ll be grabbing a cider to party to the rockgrass of US fiddle-wielding superstars Hayseed Dixie. There’s also Levelz (described as Wu-Tang meets the Happy Mondays – 14 MCs, DJs and producers whose diversity creates a sound that spans multiple genres from hip-hop and grime to drum & bass and dubstep, even featuring house and jazz vibes). Manchester legends themselves Happy Mondays will be headlining along with festival stalwart Seasick Steve. ‘cos it ain’t no festival unless Seasick Steve is there.
On Sunday night, The Garden welcomes back Benny Page. Heavily inspired by the basslines of dub music, ragga jungle and hip-hop. Benny Page’s name has become synonymous with tight production, heavyweight dancefloor tracks and clinical mixing skills.
After a 20 year career The Freestylers have achieved huge success as underground heroes in the bass music genre. They gained commercial success with their global hit Push Up. You’ll also recognise them from TV commercials and Zoolander.
The Garden Stage provides is your go-to place for hip-hop, experimental and unsigned. Acts include The Lasting Days, CW Jones, Flamenco Thief, Verbal Highz, Snazzback and The Maitree Express.
If you like your music funky, head to The Cabinet of Lost Secrets for the likes of Yusufla, Hallouminati, Hot Diamond Aces, Funky Navigation DJs, Beatwell & Dante, Rosebud, Calm Like A Riot, Mankala and The Discount Orchestra.
