Young Food & Drink Entrepreneur of the Year – Sponsored by Cotswold Fayre.
Do you dream of starting your own food business? Are you a young entrepreneur who needs a boost to help your food or drink business go to the next level?
Apparently 80,000 UK university students run a business while they study. Wow. That’s a massive number of budding entrepreneurs. And I’m sure they could use some support. That’s why I’m really excited to let you know that fine food producer Cotswold Fayre are running a start-up competition, aimed at 16-25 year olds, looking for the Young Food and Drink Entrepreneur of the Year. Now in it’s third year, the scheme will give support to the business through a year of mentoring and £1000 to help grow their company. This is an amazing prize that could help transform a fledgeling youth business into a great success.
So if you’re keen to get your paleo food truck off the ground, turn your supperclub into a cafe, launch a range of vegan superfood muffins or any other possible food or drink company you’re passionate about – you’ll want to apply for this scheme.
In addition to the cash prize, the winner will get a designer to help with branding, plus the amazing opportunity to have monthly mentor meetings with Cotswold Fayre founder Paul Hargreaves to develop their business plan and gain valuable insight and advice.
Hargreaves says, “The growing number of young entrepreneurs looking to start a business is a fantastic sign for the fine food industry. However, the prospect of starting a business with little or no experience can be incredibly daunting. The winning entrant will receive not just monetary support but also sound business advice to help face the difficult and often unexpected challenges of setting up a new business.”
Last year’s winner was Chris Hannaway, whose company Overly Sports Drinks makes premium sports drinks. His company’s mission is to make sports hydration drinks better, through real ingredients made in a kitchen, not a lab. The drinks are made with coconut water and all-natural sweeteners and flavours.
Chris said, “Winning this award has been great. As a business, we’ve managed to get a listing with Cotswold Fayre, the UK’s best wholesaler for farm shops and delicatessens. They really are a great team that are so helpful and supportive to new suppliers. On an individual note Paul’s advice has been great. He’s helped me to develop the way I think about the industry and has given me some great ideas as to how we can take the business forward.”
Overly’s stockists now include Whole Foods, Harvey Nichols and Planet Organic. You can follow the company on Twitter and Instagram.
The Cotswold Fayre Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award is accepting applications for this year’s award from 1 March 2015 and close on 30 June 2015. Apply now!
